Read Psalm 121.

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2

Do you need help? I sure do. Besides help repairing my lawn mower or replacing my oven heating element or aerating my grass, I honestly need help just to get through each day. Can anyone relate? Working long, busy work days. Driving in hectic traffic. Parenting an active child. Caring for aging parents. Staying involved at church. Trying to find time for exercise and nutrition. The list is long. Sound familiar? That’s why I daily call on the Lord.

The psalmist reminds us in Psalm 121 of three comforting truths about God.

First, He is Creator. He created all things, and made man the crown of His creation, with whom He desires a personal, intimate relationship.

Second, He never sleeps or slumbers. He is a worker, constantly working in our lives. He does not take time off. Can you imagine what life would be like if God randomly took days off or long 3 hours naps?

Third, He is our protector. God stands ready to protect us from dangers around the clock. If not for the protection of God, none of us would make it.

When we live life with our eyes fixed on Him, we can face life’s issues with confidence knowing that God is all-sufficient and all-powerful. He personally watches over and helps His own.

Put Into Action

How do you need the Lord’s help? Make a list of areas of your life where you need help. Turn them over to Him and trust Him to help.

God, help me through today, to make wise decisions and to properly love You and others and to keep my eyes focused on You.
